All parents should consider the following three points prior to giving their child fever medication:
- Any infant under the age of 2 months who has a fever should be seen
- Do not give ibuprofen to any child under 6 months of age
- Never alternate ibuprofen and acetaminophen

For infants 6 months and older only every 6-8 hours
